Remember when register your child, you enter them into the age group based on how old they will be on December 31, 2013 not how old they will be on race day.
Race Weekend August 17-18
Saturday August 17, 3-5 year olds and our first Adult Tri a Tri covering distances of 500m swim/ 10km bike/ 4km run.
Our adult Tri a Tri for ages 16 plus is a perfect opportunity to take part in your first triathlon. Pool swim followed by a flat country road with just one small hill climb. A run course that combines trail and road with lots of shade and two water stations. Our run course is a 2km loop with the last 400 metres downhill and flat! Swim cut off time for 500m will be 15 min. This will not be a timed event.
Sunday August 18, the return of the 7th Courtice Kids of Steel Triathlon for ages 6-15. Swim cut off time will be 20min for 14-15 age group. This event will be timed.
Team division for 2013 Courtice Kids of Steel Triathlon also returns. More details to follow. 2012 results showed triathletes finishing 1st and 2nd place followed by swimmers taking 3rd. Swimmers have held first place for years and naturally still remain a positive threat to this unique division and the only race in Ontario which has it.
A team must consist of 6 and maybe any combination of age (6-15) and any combination of sex. All six must register under the identical team name. All six must complete the entire triathlon, it is not a relay.
All though we are supporting all other amatuer sport groups/leagues, youth do not need to be part of a group/league to make up a team of six.
Once a team of 6 registers let us know and we will promote your team and their sponsors on this web site for free and make special note of you and your sponsors on race day. Should the team place in top 3 the coach or other representative can come up to the stage to give out the medals.

Participants travel from all over our great province to race right here in Courtice. It is truly an amazing experience to see first hand the effort these kids put into this event as they prepare all summer. Estimated crowd size this summer and fall is expected to be between 800 - 1,000 people.
