Courtice Kids of Steel Triathlon Sunday Aug 22nd 2010
3-5 year old age group is full as of July 1, 2010. There will be no exceptions.
For ages 3-19. Age group division is determined by how old the participant will be on December 31, 2010 not how old they are on race day. Registration will be limited to 225 for this year and only 36 for the 3-5 age group. With the exception of the 3-5 year old age group, all triathletes must be able to swim and no plastic wheel big wheels for ages 6 and up will be allowed. Triathletes aged 6 and up must be able to put on their own helmet properly. Pedal bike cages, or sometimes known as rat traps are not allowed on any bike. They will be removed at the bike check. Bike check is mandatory for everyone, two wheel or three. Please check your childs bike seat height. We have noticed over years that many kids ride and sit too low. This link below will help you and your child in finding the right seat height. http://www.ehow.com/how_2273719_calculate-pedal-height-bike.html

Triathlon growth for kids in the USA.
Team division will be returning again this summer. Team combines any combination of age or sex of triathlete from 6-19. All 6 members can register any time but must indicate the identical same team name in the "Team" category box on the online registration form. In 2009 swimmers were declared the fittest athletes. Will soccer, lacrosse, dancers or hockey players prove them wrong for 2010? Team members do not need to belong to any organized sport club but if they do, feel free to send us a picture of the 6 team members and we will promote your sport and sponsors on our web site. What other sporting event does that! Teams will be scored based on their place respective position in age group and sex. Lowest accumlated position equals the winners. In 2009 Team Glenburnie scored 7.
Teams that have currently registered 6 triathletes as of July 22.
Clarington Toros Hockey Peewee AE - group A
Clarington Toros Hockey Peewee AE - group B

Race update as of July 24, 2010.
As of today only 52 spots are left! These next three weeks have shown us that they are the busiest for registration and historically up to 70% of people register three weeks before closing date.
I had the pleasure of meeting the Clarington Toros Peewee AE team last night to review the sport of triathlon with them.
Folks let me tell you they are ready! Other teams entering be warned, these guys are biking and running nearly everyday and are also doing dry land training too all in their off season. Let me predict here now that I feel that one of the teams of three will reach the podium on August 22nd!

This age group does not leave the parking lot and this age group is not timed. They do not require a "chip time strap." Lots of time is always given to the 10-11 year olds. They have always been our largest and most competitive age group every year we have run the race! In 2009 we had 6 heats of them! It may even take longer this summer. |
